CLEAN FIRST

Start with the quality of the record.

Look for a timer that ran overnight, a session assigned to the wrong activity or a day you forgot to track. Fix what you can remember and mark the rest as incomplete. A precise-looking chart built from inaccurate sessions is misleading.

Define the period consistently. Monday through Sunday and the last seven days can produce different totals on the same screen. If you compare weeks, use equivalent boundaries and note holidays, travel or unusual deadlines. Differences in the record may come from coverage rather than changed behavior.

ASK THREE QUESTIONS

Ask three questions before adding more metrics.

  1. What received the most recorded time, and was that expected?
  2. Which important activity received less time than planned?
  3. What finished output or useful learning came from the sessions?

Keep the questions connected. Twelve hours on a project might be excellent if it finished the difficult milestone, or a prompt to investigate if the same problem remains untouched. Time is an input. It needs context before you call it an outcome.

EXAMPLE REVIEW

Turn a mismatch into one concrete experiment.

Imagine you intended to spend six hours learning a new tool but recorded two. The notes show that sessions were scheduled after long meetings and repeatedly abandoned. “Try harder” adds little information. Moving two short sessions before meetings is a testable change.

Write the experiment in one sentence: “On Tuesday and Thursday, do a 25-minute practice session before opening messages.” At the next review, check whether those sessions happened and whether they helped. Keep successful changes; simplify or replace ones that add effort without value.

USE YOUR HISTORY

Make the review easy to repeat in Chrono.

Chrono has daily, weekly and monthly time-distribution views. Keep activities broad enough that these views remain readable, then use tags or notes for detail. Export a completed period if you want a separate spreadsheet or archive.

Check the current Play listing for free and Plus boundaries, including analytics history. This review can also run from a short handwritten summary of recent sessions; it should not depend on having unlimited historical data. The useful habit is making a better decision from the record you actually have.

05 · QUICK ANSWERS

A Weekly Time Review You Can Finish, briefly.

What if I forgot to track half the week?

Review only what the record supports, label it incomplete and improve logging next week. Do not extrapolate missing days as if they were measured.

What is the main output of a weekly review?

One specific adjustment to your next week, supported by your recorded sessions and the work they produced.
