CHECK THE SOURCE
Make sure you have the recording itself.
A message attachment, cloud link or file-list entry may point to audio that has not finished downloading. Save a local copy and play the beginning, middle and end before trying to transcribe a long recording. A truncated file can appear normal until playback reaches the missing part.
Keep the original untouched and use a copy for any conversion or trimming. If the recording came from another person or organization, make sure you are authorized to process and share it. The file extension identifies a format convention; it does not prove the file is complete, readable or suitable for every decoder.
IMPORT STEPS
Use the picker and test a small file first.
- Install and open EchoNote, then prepare the model you plan to use.
- Choose the local audio file through the app’s file picker.
- Check that the selected item is the intended recording, not a similarly named copy.
- Run a short test before processing a large set of recordings.
- Compare the resulting text with the source audio before copying or sharing.
EchoNote’s listing includes MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC and OGG. Support for a named format does not guarantee that every damaged file or unusual encoding inside that format will succeed.
Select supported audio files in EchoNote and keep the resulting text connected to the original recording. Get EchoNote on Google Play →
IF IMPORT FAILS
Troubleshoot the file before changing models.
If the picker cannot open the item, confirm it remains available locally and select it again. If playback fails elsewhere too, recover or redownload the original before blaming the transcription model. If the problem occurs only with one unusual file, try a properly converted copy using a tool you trust.
Renaming recording.m4a to recording.wav does not decode and re-encode the audio. Nor does converting a poor recording to a larger format restore speech that was never captured clearly. Keep changes minimal so you know which step solved the problem.
KEEP RESULTS ORGANIZED
Make the text traceable to its source.
Use clear recording names before transcription, such as a topic and date, while avoiding unnecessary sensitive details in filenames. Keep a simple connection between the original and the reviewed text in your own archive.
EchoNote includes transcription history with search and copying or sharing of text. Those features help you find a result, but your source recording remains important for checking uncertain words. A completed processing job is only the start of review: read for meaning and listen at the points where mistakes would matter.

No. Renaming changes the label, not the encoded audio. Use a real conversion tool if conversion is needed.
